The city of Brasov (290.743 inhabitants) is located in the Transylvania region of Romania. Brasov Municipality is a signatory to the Covenant of Mayors and thereby committed to reduce its CO2 emissions by at least 32% by 2020. In 2018, the municipality extended its commitments to 2030 and is now in the process of developing its sustainable energy and climate plan. Brasov participates in the project TOMORROW via the Agency of Brasov for the Management of Energy and Environment (ABMEE). ABMEE was founded in 2003, through SAVE II programme of the European Commission, due to the municipality’s concerns for energy efficiency and environment. The Mayor chairs it and its mission is to promote sustainable energy policies and more broadly sustainable development in the region, thanks to activities such as support in energy planning or development of trainings, information and awareness campaigns on renewable and efficient energy. ABMEE will support the city in developing its 2050 transition roadmap!
