València has reduced its energy consumption by 17.9% and greenhouse gas emissions by 30.9% in the last 12 years.
These findings were reported in the first evaluation report of the commitments signed under the European Covenant of Mayors. The report assess the evolution of the city from 2007 to 2019 and do not reflect the effect of the pandemic.
"These are very positive figures that show that Valencia City Council is committed to the fight against climate change" said City Councellor Alejandro Ramon. "We will continue to implement the energy transition in the city, especially through photovoltaic energy, but also by encouraging and raising awareness among citizens to reduce the greenhouse effect and make Valencia a friendlier, more resilient and more sustainable city"
